Engaged as Principal Contractor, works on the Bowen Rail Network involved the delivery of key civil infrastructure including bridge and culvert construction, cattle grid installation, signage and handrail installation, and drainage works. Operating on a FIFO roster with multiple crews across two swings, the project spanned over 6 months in a remote central Queensland location.
The project demanded extensive earthworks, pavement construction, and drainage installations across challenging terrain. Remote conditions required detailed logistical planning to ensure timely supply of materials and equipment. Works were also coordinated near live rail lines, requiring strict safety protocols and collaboration with Bowen Rail.
Weather disruptions from extreme rain events frequently impacted progress, necessitating ongoing protection and recovery measures. Stakeholder engagement included coordination with local landholders for property access, driveway upgrades, and installation of new cattle grids.
Cultural heritage monitoring and environmental management were integral, with continuous oversight to protect sensitive areas and manage sediment and runoff effectively.
This project demonstrated capability in managing complex, remote R2 category civil works under logistically and environmentally demanding conditions.
